Squad training
On the first Wednesday of every month Chung Yong Mitcham combines both its child and senior class to host Chung Yong’s Squad Training.
These training sessions are aimed at preparing students for both full contact sparring and pattern competitions. Also there is an opportunity for those students wishing to take an officials role at competitions to practice (judge, corner judge, referee….)
The lesson is structured such that both pattern and sparring squads train together to improve strength, flexibility, speed, balance and stamina before separating to concentrate on their chosen activity.
There is no reason why one student cannot take part in both patterns and sparring competitions, in fact this is encouraged as it helps demonstrates the rounded abilities of a club that refuse to let go of the traditional whilst simultaneously embracing the modern.
Taekwondo is one of the most spectacular and explosive martial arts in the world and it is our aim to keep it that way.
All students are welcome, even those who do not wish to compete. These sessions are relaxed, fun and help build on the great spirit that already exists within Chung Yong.
Aims of Sparring training
For those concentrating on sparring, we work on speed strength and technique. Also we continue to build on your determination whilst allowing you to have fun and entertain. If you can achieve these things, gold medals follow quickly.
Aims of Patterns training
For those concentrating on patterns we develop your power, sharpness of technique and stamina. Patterns competitions are about demonstrating the quality and high standards of your abilities and during these sessions you will learn how best to demonstrate this whilst staying relaxed and confident.
Further progression.
Chung Young competitors are experienced in both domestic and international competitions. Further more Chung Yong can provide access to national squad training and the chance to bid for a place in the national team.
